JR+Carthagena Spain

Artist JR has been getting busy with even more new work. JR takes pictures then turns them into posters which are displayed publicly with a presentation so raw one would think they were fly posters. JR's striking themes often cause the viewer to confront their current world view and even their own prejudices (Is that a gun or a camcorder the guy on the Tate is holding?). For you Londoners, his work can currently be seen at the Tate Modern as part of their Street Art season which ends August 25th.

Os Gemeos+Too Far Too Close

For those not going on holiday lets go there in spirit together with the latest artistic offering from Sao Paulo's identical twin brothers , Os GĂȘmeos, 'Too Far Too Close'. They began their exploits in the late 1980s adorning walls and pretty much anything with their phantasmicly, other worldly, bright style of graffiti. Strongly embraced by their native city they were asked to adorn Sao Paoulo' precious trains with their unique sense of art. Much of their influence is drawn from American hip hop and Brazilian folk. They are currently exhibiting paintings, sculpture and installation at Deitch Projects' Wooster Street Gallery and have transformed it into an eccentric dreamlike cityscape. Go and see it!
Original Fake+OF Pocket Tee

This is a new tee by Original fake. This simple but striking piece looks like an exceptionally tailored plain white tee, until you turn around. Then your met with a strong but simple masked graphic on the back. It can be found at We Sold Out. Love it.

Lomography Coloursplash Camera

Spring is nearly over and summer is peeping around the corner, so no doubt you will have many a picnic to go to. When you do, make sure you take a Lomography camera with you. The Lomo Kompact's short but sweet story began in 1980's Russia when General Igor Petrowitsch Kornitzky, right hand man of the USSR Ministry of Defence and Industry, handed a rather curious looking Japanese mini-camera to his buddy Michail Panfilowitsch Panfiloff, director of the LOMO Russian Arms and Optical factory. As Mr Panfiloff adjusted his glasses and leaned over this little gem with the inquisitive wonder of a child he was elatedly surprised to see a sharpe clean lens, an extremely high light sensitivity and robust casing. Immediately orders were given to copy and improve the optical pearl before them for the glory and pleasure of Soviet Russia, and thus the LOMO LC-A (Lomo Kompact) was born. Various playful changes and versions have been made as the LOMO has matured, most notably the Lomography Coloursplash Camera which comes with 9 additional filters so you can grace each shot with a colourful hue as rare as a snowflake. Go check them out at Oki-Ni!

Yoskay Yamamoto: The Upside of Down

The Upside of Down marks the first solo show for both Japanese artist Yoskay Yamamoto as well as the Los Angeles space, project:gallery. The concept behind the exhibition rises from an internal conflict with Yoskay's alter-ego "Inskay" ("In" meaning "dark" in Japanese, whereas "Yo" means "light"). The show consists of a series of acrylic paintings on wood and paper, all related to the struggle between dark and light. The resulting imagery adopts traditional Japanese technique and incorporates American pop culture illustration. The show is currently open and runs through 24 May 2008.
